Tattoo Removal  at The Langdon Center in Guilford, CT:  Remove Unwanted Tattoos Safely

Safe & Effective / No Downtime

Best Treatment For:

  • Any area with an unwanted tattoo

Laser Tattoo Removal uses a laser that delivers short pulses of high intensity light into the treated area.  The pigment of the tattoo ink absorbs the laser energy which causes the pigments to break apart.  The tattoo is dissolved into smaller particles which are then safely removed by the body’s natural elimination system.  Laser Tattoo Removal is a safe and effective method to fade and eliminate unwanted tattoos.

Commonly Asked Questions about Tattoo Removal at The Langdon Center in Guilford, CT

What is Laser Tattoo Removal?
Laser Tattoo Removal uses a laser that delivers short pulses of high intensity light into the treated area.  The pigment of the tattoo breaks apart as it absorbs the laser energy.  In addition the fast pulse of the laser causes some of the pigment to shatter. The pigment fragments are safely eliminated from the body through the body’s natural elimination system.

The laser light is so fast that only the pigmentation is affected.  No surrounding skin tissue is destroyed or harmed.

How long does it take to remove a tattoo?
There are many variables that factor into how quickly a tattoo is removed.  The depth of the tatto, the density of the ink and the types of colors used are the three primary factors that influence how quickly results are achieved.  The location of the tatto can also impact results.  Black tattoo inks tend to absorb the laser light more quickly than colors and thus respond more quickly to the treatments.

Although results vary significantly, professional tattoos typically take between 5 to 10 treatments delivered at 4-6 week intervals to remove.

The time of each individual treatment also varies depending on the size of the tattoo, but typically are between 5 minutes and 30 minutes.

Is Laser Tattoo Removal painful?
Many patients claim the sensatino of laser tattoo removal is like the snap of a rubber band, while some patients equate the sensation with that of having a tattoo.  One significant different between having a tattoo and removing a tattoo is that removing a tattoo is much quicker, with each session lasting only 5 to 30 minutes depending on the size of the tattoo.

Is there any downtime?
Patients are able to resume their normal activies immediately following  the treatment.  Most people experience some redness and swelling and in some cases blistering and scabbing will be present for a week or two following the treatment.

What results can I expect?
Although results vary depending on the depth, density, color and location of the tattoo, most patients find that the treated area is indistinguishable from the surrounding area.  In some cases, a lighter or darker pigment may persist.

Is there any scarring from Tattoo Removal?
No.  The laser energy is absorbed by the pigment and does not harm the surrounding skin tisssue.
