Non-Surgical Injectables Dermal Fillers Restylane®

The Langdon Center strives to help patients achieve their aesthetic goals with convenient, low-impact treatments that fit every lifestyle and schedule. And when it comes to cosmetic treatments, nothing is more convenient than injectable dermal fillers. Restylane® is one of the many popular dermal fillers we offer to give you the best results with the least hassle.

What is Restylane®?

Restylane® is an FDA-approved cosmetic dermal filler made of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that already exists in the human body. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane® is a crystal-clear gel called NASHA® or Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid. NASHA® is completely biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid.

Like Juvederm® and our other HA fillers, Restylane® is versatile and customizable with numerous uses. Restylane® can treat superficial lines and wrinkles but also more pronounced deeper wrinkles (your laugh lines, for example). Another popular use for Restylane® is lip augmentation or lip enhancement. Restylane® restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct facial wrinkles and folds, giving the skin a smoother, more youthful appearance.

Our most popular treatment areas for Restylane® include:

  • Frown lines between your brows (glabella or “11s”)
  • Nasolabial folds (base of the nose to the corner of the mouth)
  • Lip enhancement (for fuller, plumper lips)
  • Lip lines (smoker’s lines)
  • Cheekbones, chin, and jawline for enhancing facial contours

Frequently Asked Questions

No pre-treatment skin test is needed with Restylane®, which makes the treatment very quick and easy. The Restylane® formula includes anesthetic lidocaine to minimize pain during the injections. If you receive injections in a sensitive area, such as the lips, we may apply a topical numbing cream first.

Restylane® injections normally take 30-45 minutes, depending on the treatment area. Dr. Langdon or our aesthetic specialist, Maria Koursaris, will carefully inject Restylane® with a gentle technique for minimal bruising. We may make several small injections for even distribution and natural-looking results.

One of the primary convenience factors of dermal fillers is that they don’t require any downtime. You can resume your daily activities immediately after your quick lunch break injection procedure. You may have slight bruising, redness, or swelling at the injection site. These minor side effects typically subside within a few days and can be minimized by applying an ice pack and avoiding strenuous exercise or sun exposure.

Our patients enjoy immediate results from Restylane® injections. The HA filler creates instant volume, smoothing out lines and enhancing your facial contours. However, bruising and swelling may initially obscure the results somewhat, so you should expect to enjoy optimal improvements in about a week. Since hyaluronic acid boosts water retention, Restylane® injections can also give you softer, healthier-looking skin.

The longevity of your results depends on which Restylane® formula is used and where it’s injected. For example, lip fillers tend to dissolve faster since there’s a lot of movement around the mouth. Restylane® fillers typically last six to 12 months. You can preserve or enhance your results with occasional maintenance treatments or complementary procedures such as Botox®.

Almost anyone is a good candidate for dermal fillers like Restylane®. During a detailed consultation, Dr. Langdon will discuss your cosmetic goals and analyze your facial structure to create a personalized treatment plan.

You shouldn’t use Restylane® if you have severe allergies manifested by a history of anaphylaxis or a history or presence of multiple severe allergies. Restylane® contains trace amounts of gram-positive bacterial proteins and is contraindicated for patients with a history of allergies to such material.
