NATURAL EYELID LIFT CONNECTICUT

As Dr. Langdon discusses in his monthly seminars on cosmetic surgery, volume loss is one of the major signs of aging in the face. Volume loss results mostly from diminished fat and is most evident in the eyelids and eyebrow area. The only natural and everlasting method of restoring volume to the peri-orbital area (around the eyes) is to place fat in the areas where it has been lost. Dr. Langdon’s Natural Eyelid Lift accomplishes this volume restoration using the body’s own fat.

AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE
FOR NATURAL EYELID LIFT?

If the need for upper or lower lid blepharoplasty is too great (see above question), Dr. Langdon would ordinarily recommend that these surgical procedures be done. In milder cases of upper lid drooping or lower lid fat pockets, Dr. Langdon may recommend the Natural Eyelid Lift. In some cases patients require both blepharoplasty and Natural Eyelid Lift for maximal improvement.

NATURAL EYELID LIFT PROCEDURE

The periorbital area is the single part of the face that gets the most “viewing.” When people are talking to you, they are focusing on the area around your eyes. Wrinkly skin, bulging fat pockets, and general volume loss can all contribute to an aged appearance.

Natural Eyelid Lift is a type of fat transfer surgery in which fat tissue from the same patient is precisely grafted to the delicate area around the eyes. A mini-liposuction procedure (using a small syringe) is used to obtain fat cells from preferred areas of the body. The fat tissue is purified and then gently placed throughout most of the upper and lower eyelid areas as well as the outer eyebrow region.

Volume loss contributes to the need for both upper lid and lower lid blepharoplasty. In the upper lids, volume loss “deflates” the tissue and increases the appearance of sagging, excess skin. If there is too much excess skin, an upper lid blepharoplasty (a skin removal procedure) may be required; in milder cases, Natural Eyelid Lift may be all that is needed to improve the appearance.

In the lower lids, the bulging pockets of orbital fat (a special type of fat that is largely or entirely resistant to the volume loss that occurs with aging) are made more noticeable by the loss of volume in the adjacent areas. Natural Eyelid Lift can even out the contours enough that a lower lid blepharoplasty is not needed.

*WHAT RESULTS WILL I SEE?

Benefits of Natural Eyelid Lift include the following:

  • The procedure is performed safely using local anesthesia.
  • No artificial or temporary “fillers” are used.
  • Results are lifelong and natural appearing.

These hyaluronic acid fillers have very limited use around the eyes. They can cause an unnatural blue color if placed too close to the surface in this area of thin skin. On the other hand, fat tissue is the natural material that provides volume in the area around the eyes; it does not cause discoloration like the artificial fillers and can accomplish a more realistic-appearing aesthetic outcome.
