August 22, 2012

If you have been thinking about doing something about your skin woes such as age spots and fine lines, you might want to visit Dr. Robert Langdon at his Guilford clinic for a Connecticut weekend laser peel. This non-invasive facial rejuvenation procedure is actually tailored to treat any skin problem that needs correction on your end – from scars to wrinkles to keratoses to certain pigmentation problems.

How It Works

Dr. Langdon’s weekend peel employs the microlaser peel technology wherein a computer-guided scanner accurately fixes the parameters of laser specfications such as rate, depth and scan pattern. How exactly does it differ from microdermabrasion?

By and large, microdermabrasion removes around 10 to 15 microns of the superficial epidermal layer. On the other hand, a microlaser peel removes approximately 20 to 50 microns and goes deeper into the epidermis to correct your skin problems.

The positive results of a solo treatment could last for 6 to 12 months. Dr. Langdon usually recommends a package of 3 to 4 treatments to ensure optimum results.

What to Expect

Expect for smoother, vibrant-looking skin and uniform skin texture a few days following treatment. With microlaser peel, significant and immediate changes will be noticed right away.

During the procedure, an anesthetic cream may be applied into the treated area. The anesthetic cream works best when applied 45 minutes to an hour before the scheduled procedure. In certain cases, Dr. Langdon may instruct you to take sedatives and relaxants. A few hours after microlaser peel, it is normal for you to feel a mild burning sensation for hours.

Healing Process

Although the healing process can vary from one person to another and the relative depth of the peel, the average healing period ranges from 2 to 4 days. You can actually visit Dr. Langdon’s clinic on a Friday and return to school or work on a Monday.

Post-Procedure Care

Cold compress could be applied to relieve the burning sensation hours following a laser chemical peel. Also, vaseline can also be applied to the area until healing occurs. Lastly, sunblock should always be in use whether you’re going indoors or outdoors.
