CoolSculpting® is an FDA-approved body contouring procedure that uses a special freezing mechanism to eliminate fat cells — all without surgery, stitches, or incisions.

CoolSculpting® is a popular choice for people who want to see noticeable inch reduction in common problem areas like the abdomen, waistline, upper arms, thighs, and more.

Dr. Robert Langdon and his team are proud to offer CoolSculpting® treatments to patients who want to feel comfortable in their clothing again. Read on to learn more about this popular non-surgical fat reduction treatment, including how it works!

What Is CoolSculpting®?

In previous years, people who wanted to shrink stubborn pockets of fat had two options available to them:

  • Diet and exercise, and hope for results; or
  • Liposuction surgery

Both the above options don’t account for the people who may have smaller pockets of fat, or who may have stubborn fat that’s resistant to diet and exercise due to hormonal changes or genetics.

That’s where CoolSculpting® comes in. This non-invasive treatment is a body-contouring technology that targets your fat cells, while leaving surrounding healthy tissue untouched.

It’s designed for people who are within 15 to 30 pounds of their ideal weight, but are still having trouble reducing fat with diet and exercise alone.

How Does CoolSculpting® Work?

CoolSculpting® is able to target and shrink fat cells through a freezing mechanism that delivers cold to fat tissue located directly underneath the skin. This freezing process will actually solidify the fat layer and “crystallize” the oil within the fat cells. Once this oil is crystallized, it damages the fat cells, causing them to die off. Over time, the body’s metabolic processes remove the damaged cells naturally via the lymphatic system.

Within a couple of months, the targeted fat cells disappear, resulting in noticeable inch reduction at the treatment site.

And because CoolSculpting® is non-surgical, there’s no need for any downtime or recovery. You can go right on with your day directly after your CoolSculpting® treatment!

Dr. Langdon (and staff) makes me feel comfortable in consultation and during treatments, which was my biggest worry before going to the practice. Dr. Langdon is skillful and knowledgable. One suggestion would be to consider providing patients with a bit more care instructions and information on the treatment.
