Cellulaze™

Surgical Body Cellulaze™

If you have dimpled, uneven skin around your thighs or buttocks, you’re one of many. Up to 90% of women have cellulite. Though harmless, this common condition is often a source of frustration or insecurity. Many people try to exercise, diet, and use over-the-counter medications to achieve tighter, smoother skin. If you are looking for a state-of-the-art method to reduce your cellulite, the Langdon Center can help with Cellulaze™.

What is Cellulaze™?

Cellulaze™ is an innovative laser treatment designed to reduce cellulite. While many cellulite treatments only address the skin, Cellulaze™ goes beneath the surface to target the root cause of cellulite. Cellulite can occur in multiple areas of the body but is most common in the thighs and buttocks.

The appearance of cellulite results from fat buildup that causes outward pressure against the skin. Fibrous bands tether the skin, causing it to dimple. Cellulite may be more apparent in people with thin skin or excess fat because the corded fibers may accentuate dimpling as the fat pushes the surrounding skin outward. Because these fibrous connective tissues are the primary factor that creates cellulite, Cellulaze™ works by loosening these bands and releasing tension.

Cellulite can develop due to weight change, aging, pregnancy, hormones, and genetics. As those who suffer from cellulite know, it isn’t always manageable through diet and exercise alone. As a board-certified cosmetic surgeon and dermatologist, Dr. Langdon can help you identify the cause of your cellulite and determine the best treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

This minimally invasive laser technology was created by the laser company Cynosure and is based on SmartLipo technology. The Cellulaze™ device uses thermal energy to liquefy excess fat and disrupt the fibrous septae that cause cellulite.

Cellulaze™ laser treatment for cellulite is the only procedure that targets cellulite at its source: beneath the skin rather than superficially on the skin’s surface. Dr. Langdon performs Cellulaze™ procedures through tiny skin incisions, which don’t require incisions. Laser energy is used to liquefy fat while promoting collagen production for smoother, cellulite-free skin. Collagen is essential to your skin’s structure and support, and healthy, firm skin is less likely to show cellulite.

This quick and easy solution to fighting cellulite can dramatically reduce or get rid of dimples in as little as one treatment! Cellulaze™ treatments at the Langdon Center usually take two to three hours. Local anesthesia provided by a numbing solution will be used to numb the treatment area for patient comfort.

Cellulite is not caused by fat only, and people at a healthy weight can have it. However, excess fat increases your likelihood of cellulite and its severity. If you struggle with stubborn fat contributing to cellulite’s appearance, Dr. Langdon may recommend an additional treatment such as liposuction or CoolSculpting®.

As a minimally invasive procedure, Cellulaze™ requires very little downtime. Patients typically return to their regular activities within two days. You will need to avoid strenuous exercise for a week or two, and we may recommend wearing a compression garment.

Slight redness, bruising, or irritation may occur at the incision sites but is easily manageable. The incisions may ooze slightly for the first 24 hours. Your treatment area will likely be swollen and sore for a couple of weeks. Most patients only need over-the-counter pain medication, and Dr. Langdon will give you detailed instructions for recovery.

Most patients need just one Cellulaze™ treatment for significant results. You’ll likely see some improvement quickly as the swelling and bruising fade because the laser energy helps tighten your skin and collagen fibers for a smoother appearance. The full effects of Cellulaze™ take time, however. You can expect optimal benefits in three to six months.

Cellulaze™ results typically last many years. A healthy diet and exercise can help preserve your results.

The best candidates for Cellulaze™ are physically healthy women with realistic expectations. Individuals who have noticed cellulite on their body and are unhappy with its appearance may benefit from this treatment. Cellulaze™ is most effective for patients with mild to moderate cellulite who are at or near their ideal weight. Dr. Langdon may recommend additional or alternative treatments if you struggle with stubborn fat or skin laxity.
