Laser Hair Removal is a noninvasive treatment that safely removes unwanted hair without damaging the skin.
At The Langdon Center in Guilford, Connecticut we use the new Vectus diode laser by Palomar for Laser Hair Removal that is safe on most skin types and skin colors. The Vectus uses the advanced SkinTel device to directly measure and objectively determine the patient’s skin pigment level. The SkinTel wirelessly transmits the “Melanin Index” data to the Vectus laser, whose computer then determines the optimal and safest settings to use for hair removal treatment. We also use the Apogee Elite laser by Cynosure. With these two lasers we can safely treat patients of all skin types.
These systems use intense pulses of light energy that pass through the skin to the hair follicle where the energy is absorbed and transformed into heat, disabling the follicle while leaving the surrounding area unaffected.
Laser Hair Removal offers lifelong results compared to temporary hair removal methods such as shaving, tweezing or waxing. Laser treatments are much safer and effective than electrolysis, and can treat much larger areas.
Laser Hair Removal is recommended in packages of three or more treatments in order to disable all of the unwanted active hair follicles.

Commonly Asked Questions about Laser Hair Removal at The Langdon Center in Guilford
What is Laser Hair Removal?
Laser Hair Removal is achieved by laser treatments that offer a safe and effective method of removing unwanted body hair.
Can I Expect Lifelong Results from Laser Hair Removal?
Laser Hair Removal can disable the hair that is in an active growth cycle on the day of your treatment, this result lasts forever. Follicles that are not active will enter the growth phase in a few weeks and will then be treatable. Most active hair follicles must be treated more than once. For this reason a series of treatments are recommended.
Where can Laser Hair Removal be used?
Anywhere on the skin surface.
Can tanned skin be treated?
Tanned skin can be unsafe to treat, so always inform us if you have been tanning or exposed to the sun within the last three weeks. The treatment settings may have to be altered or treatment may have to be delayed. With the new SkinTel technology we can accurately determine the level of melanin pigment in the skin.
How long does the treatment take?
A treatment normally takes between 15 and 30 minutes, although time varies depending on the area being treated. The new Vectus laser is the world’s fastest laser for hair removal!
How soon will I see results?
The hair that was treated will begin to work its way out of the follicle and will start to fall out between 10-14 days after the treatment.
Are there any laser hair removal side effects?
Side effects may include slight redness (most clients return to natural color within 20 -30 minutes). Pigmentary changes of the skin, blisters and “hot spots” are rare but occasionally occur.
How much does Laser Hair Removal Cost?
The fee is specific to each body area treated and individuals may require varying numbers of treatments for the best results. Please contact us for a specific cost.
