What is Micro-needling?

Micro-needling is designed to activate the reparative process in the skin to regenerate collagen and elastin. It can improve skin tone and texture and lead to a rejuvenated appearance. Micro-needling is a minimally-invasive, safe treatment that can make a positive difference in patients with all skin types and colors.

Candidates for Micro-needling

This treatment can be used to improve a number of skin problems including fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, large pores, hyperpigmentation, stretch marks, and dull skin. The ideal candidates for micro-needling are men and women with one or a few of these issues who are over the age of 18 and in overall good health. They should not be pregnant or plan on becoming pregnant or have recently had dermal fillers injection.

Procedure

After photos of the skin are taken, a topical numbing cream will be applied to a patient’s skin. As soon as the numbing phase has concluded, the treatment will begin. A special device with hair-thin needles will glide across the skin to form a controlled wound into the upper layers of the skin. This will trigger the body’s natural healing process and regenerate collagen and elastin to revitalize the skin.

Several Benefits of Micro-needling Include:

Boosts collagen: As we age we lose collagen, an important protein which is responsible for giving us a youthful glow. Micro-needling can boost collagen production and make the skin appear years younger.

Improves scars: Micro-needling is a natural way to improve the appearance of unsightly scars from previous acne and other conditions.

Increases radiance: Because micro-needling clarifies the skin, it will result in a healthy glow and appear more radiant.

Allows for deeper infiltration of products: Research has shown that micro-needling significantly enhances the skin’s ability to absorb topical (applied) medications, which increases their effectiveness.

Results

Micro-needling, like many other skin treatments, requires a series of sessions in order to produce the optimal results. We recommend a micro-needling session every 4 to 6 weeks until patients are pleased with their results.

Following each session, patients will have micro-injuries in their skin, which will prompt a natural healing response. Their body’s own production of new collagen and elastin will create a smooth, beautiful appearance.
