Are There Treatments to Reduce Cellulite?

December 22, 2019

Cellulite is a common skin condition that appears as a dimpled, lumpy look, usually on the thighs and/or buttocks. A buildup of subcutaneous (beneath the skin) fat that results from hormones, genetics, pregnancy, poor diet, weight gain, and possibly other factors, seems to cause cellulite. Cellulite is much more common in women than in men.

If you have cellulite, you may have tried creams that have left you with disappointing results. Fortunately, there is a cellulite treatment that works. We are pleased to offer the Cellulaze cellulite reduction treatment to patients who are bothered by cellulite and longing for smoother, firmer skin. Keep reading to learn more about this revolutionary treatment.

How Cellulaze Works

During a Cellulaze treatment, Dr. Langdon will insert a very small laser fiber (enclosed in a thin cannula, under the skin. The “SideLight” laser fiber directs laser energy directly to specific structures under your skin. The SideLight laser energy will be used to release connective tissue bands that tether the skin and create the indentations seen in cellulite. In addition, the laser is used to “melt” lumpy fat pockets that cause protrusions. The net result is smoother skin with minimized “hills and valleys.”

Because you will be treated with a local anesthetic prior to the treatment, you can expect minimal to no discomfort. Although the extent of the areas being treated will determine the treatment time, most Cellulaze treatments take between two and three hours to complete.

Do Cellulaze Results Last?

Because Cellulaze allows collagen to form in the areas treated and collagen is a protein that helps keep our skin looking firm and youthful, you can enjoy long-lasting results with this treatment. Clinical trials have shown that results typically last several years or longer.

Studies have also demonstrated that Cellulaze can increase skin thickness by 25% and skin elasticity by 29%. Skin that is thicker and more elastic can appear smoother with a reduced appearance of cellulite as a result. It’s essential to adhere to a healthy diet and exercise to continue to enjoy the results.

Dr. Langdon does beautiful work, and has the most professional staff. I highly recommend The Langdon Center.
