Does Breast Reduction Surgery Always Leave Scars

June 19, 2017

Whether you are unhappy with the appearance of overly large breasts or want to treat associated symptoms such as back or shoulder pain, undergoing breast reduction surgery can provide many benefits. A breast reduction surgery can help to alleviate health problems and can also increase self-esteem, helping you regain confidence and enjoy a more comfortable body.

In women with large breasts, the additional volume is usually due to excess fatty tissue. Just as breast size can be increased with fat augmentation, it can be reduced by fat removal. Many women hesitate to undergo traditional breast reduction surgery because it can leave large and noticeable scars. A revolution in breast reduction is Scarless Breast Reduction, a type of liposuction offered at the Langdon Center, which leaves minimal to no scarring whatsoever.

Scarless Breast Reduction removes excess breast fat without the typical scars and recovery time of traditional breast reduction surgeries. It achieves this through the use of a special liposuction technique that utilizes tiny skin incisions and micro-cannulas, the thin hollow tubes used to suction out the fat. The small incisions do not require stitches and generally heal without obvious scars.

A Scarless Breast Reduction procedure is most beneficial for women who are looking for a significant reduction in breast size and who wish to avoid the risks of general anesthesia. It can also be used to improve breast asymmetry (one breast is larger than the other). The more fat removed, the greater the lift because of reduced weight of the breasts. A Scarless Breast Reduction will not provide as dramatic a lift as a traditional breast lift surgery (mastopexy) but has the significant advantage of avoiding the scarring associated with the breast lift procedure.

There are many benefits to No-scar Breast Reduction, including:

  • Local anesthesia for safety and comfort
  • Minimal pain
  • No stitches needed
  • Extremely short recovery period
  • Minimal to nonexistent scars
