How Long is Natural Breast Augmentation Surgery?

January 27, 2021

Breast augmentation surgery remains one of the most popular cosmetic procedures ever; however, for many people, the thought of getting artificial silicone or saline implants isn’t exactly an appealing prospect.

Fortunately, there’s natural breast augmentation, a safe procedure that uses your body’s own fat to produce lifelong results.

At The Langdon Center for Laser & Cosmetic Surgery, your natural breast augmentation will be carried out by Robert Langdon, MD, a board-certified cosmetic surgeon with decades of unparalleled experience. This article provides insight into his approach to natural breast augmentation, including how long the surgery may take.

Length of Natural Breast Augmentation Procedure

It typically takes about three to five hours to perform the entire breast augmentation procedure. The treatment can be divided into three separate stages:

  • During the first couple of hours, the local anesthetic (tumescent) solution is added to both the donor areas of unwanted fat and to the breasts. The fat is then harvested from the donor areas (usually the abdomen or thighs) using liposuction. Dr. Langdon will remove enough fat to maximize the amount of augmentation.

This harvesting of fat is done via Body-Jet technology, which delivers controlled bursts of saltwater (actually local anesthetic solution) directly to fat tissue, enhancing its removal by liposuction.

  • After the fat removal process, the aspirated fat clumps are suctioned into the Lipo-Collector, a sterile container in which the fat cells are gently washed and concentrated in preparation for fat grafting.

The purified fat tissue is then transferred to syringes in preparation for the final step of the natural breast augmentation procedure.

  • Dr. Langdon injects the prepared fat into the breast tissue. Included in the grafted fat tissue are adipose-derived stem cells, which can convert into additional fat cells and even blood vessel cells, which help support the newly grafted fat to grow and remain healthy.

At the end of your natural breast augmentation procedure, Dr. Langdon will provide you with a post-op recovery plan that can help you maintain your newfound volume. Keep in mind that results may not be finalized for several months, as initial swelling goes down followed by stem cell regeneration producing additional volume.

Very happy with my Breast Transfer… I am more full now and fit my bras , (about a cup larger)… My donor sites(inner thighs and flanks) look amazing now… dresses and shorts look so much better….with only a little discomfort early on,,, this procedure was well worth it! Thank you Dr. Langdon!!
