New Study: Unhealthy Lifestyles Can Age Skin Up to 10 Years!

July 31, 2013

For many years, researchers believed that genetics trumped lifestyle when it came to the aging of the skin. Not true, claims a new international study published in England’s The Telegraph. The study, which evaluated 585 women over the course of 8 years, discovered that lifestyle choices can account for as much as 33 percent of how old an individual looks.

The study focused on lifestyle habits such as cigarette smoking, sun bathing, sunscreen use, alcohol intake and other factors that encourage free radicals and the degeneration of youthful skin. Though the women involved in the study were all the same age, the difference in their perceived age because of these unhealthy habits was 10 years. The verdict? Women with healthy lifestyle habits look younger.

If you’ve already damaged your skin, never fear – we have an advanced array of skin rejuvenation services that can repair and renew.

Minimally invasive surgical options like our minimal incision facelift, ExpresS-Lift, are great for those with significant skin sagging and laxity. Compared to a traditional facelift, ExpresS-Lift is a quicker operation with fewer complications, and a much faster recovery.

Laser treatments such as Photo Facials can eliminate the sun damage of years past like sunspots, age spots, broken capillaries and more. With no downtime and lasting results, it’s a popular, quick and effective option.

Injectables like BOTOX® and dermal fillers such as Juvederm® can correct wrinkles including crow’s feet, smoker’s lines and nasolabial folds. When combined, they provide a “liquid lift” that can erase the years in a matter of minutes.
