Will Breast Augmentation Affect Nipple Size?

May 7, 2019

If you’d like to improve the appearance of your breasts but are looking for a natural look, natural breast augmentation may be right for you. Natural breast augmentation eliminates the need for artificial breast implants and can increase the volume of your breasts while tapering the areas that surround them.

Recently, we’ve had a few patients ask us whether natural breast augmentation will affect their nipple size. Keep reading to learn the answer to this question.

The Effect of Natural Breast Augmentation on Nipple Size

Contrary to popular belief, your areolas (the pigmented skin around your nipples) do not drastically change in size after breast augmentation. While you may notice them stretch a bit because of the larger volume of your breasts, it’s unlikely that they’ll become significantly bigger.

Keep in mind that although the swelling you may experience right after the surgery can cause your nipples to look puffier than usual, this will subside over time. In addition, it is atypical for the position of your nipples and areolas to significantly change after breast augmentation. If one of your nipples sits lower than the other before breast augmentation, you can expect this to remain the same following your surgery.

In addition, note that it is normal for nipples to become numb or sore after breast augmentation. If you experience these side effects, keep in mind that they are temporary and should fade within a few months. In the event your nipples are very sensitive, you can wear a nipple shield or place a Band-Aid over them to reduce discomfort.

After natural breast augmentation, you can expect minimal to no change in the size, position, and sensitivity of your nipples.

Benefits of Natural Breast Augmentation

The reality is that artificial breast implants can lead to unnatural results. If you’d like to ensure your breasts look natural or don’t like the way breast implants look, natural breast augmentation may be just what you need to feel more confident. This procedure can give you the natural, beautiful results you may not be able to achieve with breast implants.
