Upper Lip Lift at The Langdon Center in Guilford
For many patients, the upper lip tends to appear smaller as they age. Over time, the skin above the lips can gradually stretch, causing the upper lip to “turn under” and appear smaller. This stretched skin adds excessive vertical height to the area between the nose and the upper lip.
An Upper Lip Lift is an innovative procedure designed to shorten the distance between the nose and the upper lip. The skin immediately beneath the nose is removed and the skin edges are stitched together, providing a physical lift. The end result is a more balanced, natural, youthful appearance, with fuller upper lips.

Common Questions & Answers About Upper Lip Lift
How Is the Procedure Performed?
The procedure is relatively straightforward. Board-certified cosmetic surgeon Dr. Robert Langdon will make a small incision just under the nose. The incision is curved so that it will be hidden immediately below the bottom edge of the nose. A similarly curved lower incision is made, producing a section of skin that is removed. The skin edges of this excision are stitched together, which shortens the distance between the nose and the upper lip, thus lifting and everting (turning out) the upper lip.
The result is an upper lip that appears fuller. This fuller look should persist for many years.
Who Are the Best Candidates For An Upper Lip Lift?
The best candidates for this procedure are those who have a significant vertical distance between their nose and upper lip.
How Long Does The Procedure Take?
The procedure itself takes 1-2 hours to perform.
How Long Do Results Last?
Results are lifelong.
Is It Painful?
The procedure itself is not painful; Dr. Langdon uses a local numbing anesthetic to minimize discomfort during surgery.
What Is the Downtime?
Following the procedure, patients can go home for a minimal recovery period and can return to work after 3-4 days. Some swelling can be expected during the first 1-2 weeks after the procedure. Patients will need to return to The Langdon Center after 7-10 days to have their sutures removed.
