Does a Facelift Leave Scars?

April 30, 2019

If you feel like you look tired and old every time you look in the mirror, a facelift may be a good option. It can resolve hanging jowls and a “turkey neck,” tighten up sagging skin, get rid of deep creases, and leave you looking and feeling amazing.

Although a traditional facelift does offer many benefits, it also comes with some drawbacks. Because it is a surgical procedure, there may be “side effects,” including scarring. The good news, however, is that you can reap the benefit of a traditional facelift while reducing its drawbacks by undergoing an  ExpresS-Lift.

An ExpresS-Lift is less invasive than a traditional facelift and can reduce the appearance of scars. Keep reading to learn how it works.

What is an ExpresS-Lift?

The ExpresS-Lift facelift is performed under local anesthesia to eliminate any pain and to reduce post-operative bruising. Because it requires only a short skin incision, which is carefully placed around the hairline and ears, post-operative scarring is also minimized. Most significantly, unlike with a traditional facelift, the Express-Lift incision ends just behind the ear lobe and does not extend into the hairline behind the ear. The longer, traditional incision can result in significant scarring that may be visible if the patient wears their hair “up.”

If you choose to undergo an ExpresS-Lift, you can expect the incision to become inconspicuous after it heals. When you’re interacting with people, they are unlikely to detect any scarring.

Benefits of an ExpresS-Lift

There are a number of benefits of undergoing an ExpresS-Lift instead of a traditional facelift. It can leave you with reduced jowls, a smoother neck, contoured jawline and overall younger look. In addition, its recovery period is far shorter because this procedure comes with minimal bruising and swelling. The ExpresS-Lift may be just what you need to restore your confidence without the lengthy recovery period and scarring associated with a traditional facelift.
